Synthesising Evolutionarily Stable Normative Systems

چکیده
Within the area of multi-agent systems, normative systems are a widely used framework for the coordination of interdependent activities. A crucial problem associated with normative systems is that of synthesising norms that effectively accomplish a coordination task and whose compliance forms a rational choice for the agents within the system. In this work, we introduce a framework for the synthesis of normative systems that effectively coordinate a multi-agent system and whose norms are likely to be adopted by rational agents. Our approach roots in evolutionary game theory. Our framework considers multiagent systems in which evolutionary forces lead successful norms to prosper and spread within the agent population, while unsuccessful norms are discarded. The outputs of this evolutionary norm synthesis process are normative systems whose compliance forms a rational choice for the agents. We empirically show the effectiveness of our approach through empirical evaluation in a simulated traffic domain.

Evolutionary Synthesis of Stable Normative Systems
Normative systems are a widely used framework to coordinate interdependent activities in multi-agent systems. Most research in this area has focused on how to compute normative systems that effectively accomplish a coordination task, as well as additional criteria such as synthesising norms that do not over-regulate a system, and the emergence of norms that remain stable over time. We introduce...
متن کاملSynthesising Liberal Normative Systems
Norms have been extensively studied to coordinate multi-agent systems, and the literature has investigated two general approaches to norm synthesis: off-line (synthesising norms at design-time) and on-line (run-time synthesis). On-line synthesis is generally recognised to be appropriate for open systems, where aspects of the system remain unknown at design-time. In this paper we present LION, a...

متن کاملAutomated synthesis of normative systems
Normative systems (norms) have been widely proposed as a technique for coordinating multi-agent systems. The automated synthesis of norms for coordination remains an open and complex problem, which we tackle in this paper. We propose a novel mechanism called IRON (Intelligent Robust On-line Norm synthesis mechanism), for the on-line synthesis of norms. IRON aims to synthesise conflict-free norm...
